Clay County Community Center
Organizational Summary
The mission of Clay County Community Center is to identify and assess the needs of homebound older adults in Clay County, Texas, and to provide life-sustaining services which allow them to live in the comfort of their homes. A further mission of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit is the operation of Clay County Community Center that serves persons aged 60 and over with nutritional, educational, recreational, and social programs.
Plans to provide services for the seniors of Clay County began on 1981, when a group of citizens met for an organizational meeting to realize a dream. Then, in 2006, a larger facility with its own Meals on Wheels kitchen opened its doors and has been the home of the Clay County Community Center ever since.
The Clay County Community Center is a place for those 60 and over to socialize, enjoy nutritious meals, and participate in activities such as play cards, bridge, bingo, dominoes, exercise classes, art classes and doing jig saw puzzles and more. CCCC provides other important services, as well as an onsite food bank used on an as needed basis and in emergencies for those who need groceries.
CCCC has built strong partnerships with families, businesses, regional healthcare organizations in and outside Clay County. In 2019, we delivered 11,000 lunches through Henrietta Meals on Wheels. We also served or assisted 4,000 seniors and family’s onsite meals to visitors of the Center.
CCCC is not a federal or state agency and receives less than 30% of its annual revenue from government or public sources. The vast majority of its programs are funded through the very generous support of Clay County residents, businesses, corporations, and foundations. The organization has 6 employees and enjoys the generous support of 25 volunteers for the Meals on Wheels program and additional volunteers who assist each week at the community center.
